“Bieroc” Hand Pies – Choose Your Own 12 Pack

The Sehnert family, German by descent, settled in the same areas as Germans from Russia, who originated the bieroc and brought it to the Midwest. Embers makes its version of the bieroc with ground beef infused with their secret seasoning blend, sauerkraut or cabbage, and their homemade crusty bread dough. The Embers bieroc leaves the ends of its bread open, resulting in flavorful meat in every bite. They’re still made by hand today.

What began as Sehnert’s Bakery in 1957 is now Embers Bakery, with the same recipes that date back to the 1600s and a commitment to quality just as long-standing. Located in southwest Nebraska, they source our flour from Kansas and their sugar comes from western Nebraska through the Western Sugar Cooperative. In 2019, the bakery was honored by the James Beard Foundation with their prestigious America’s Classics Award for their signature bieroc.
